This is a completely true story we heard from our brother`s friend`s friend. So it must be true.
A few years back this guy and his girlfriend had a romantic evening, topped off by a visit to the Savoy Cinema to see a big blockbuster movie at the time, "Robin Hood - Prince Of Thieves". They loved this touching, tender film, and especially the smoochy theme song, Bryan Adams singing "Everything I Do, I Do It For You." It became "their" song, and later the same night, as they heard it on the radio in their local pub, the boyfriend went down on one knee and proposed, and herself said yes. The big day approached, and during rehearsals for the wedding he asked the parish priest if the organist would ever play "their" song instead of the standard "Wedding March". The parish priest, a bit of a stickler for tradition, asked him if he was really sure. Our groom said he`d never been more sure of anything in all his life. So the PP said fair enough - he was being inundated by requests for big Top 20 songs at weddings anyway (Celine Dion was particularly popular too) and he said he`d tell the organist that it was OK. Anyway, the day of the wedding came, and as the bride entered the hushed church, the organist struck up the Robin Hood theme, as arranged:
"Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding through the glen
Robin Hood, Robin Hood, with his band of men
Feared by the bad, loved by the good
Robin Hood, Robin Hood, Robin Hood!"
Yep, the organist had never heard of Bryan Adams. Instead, he`d gone for the jaunty "Robin Hood" theme from the Sixties television series of the same name. True story, honest injun.
